Bates Worldwide held its second annual "The Mother of All Portfolio Contests." Jacqueline Lee, a recent graduate of The Creative Circus, took home the Grand Prize for copywriting. Lee was flown to New York to receive a check for $5,000, and was the guest of honor at the crowing party at Bates' New York headquarters. The contest also named four runners-up, each of whom received a digital camera: Melissa Early; Bryann Karr and Thomas Weingard, all from the Portfolio Center; and Chad M. Laughlin, from The Creative Circus.
