Goldsmith Joins American Cancer Society
Andy Goldsmith, independent senior marketing and advertising consultant and current president of Creativity Atlanta: The Advertising and Creative Club, has agreed to serve in a staff role managing the American Cancer Society's nationwide advertising, multimedia, graphic design and brand assets as the national organization's national managing director of creative & brand strategy. Tasked with further integrating the Society' brand experience, Goldsmith is well equipped for the position, bringing more than 20 years of experience as an award-winning strategic communications and marketing leader, business strategist and training consultant.
"Andy holds a long, successful history with the Society in its advertising and brand positioning," says Greg Donaldson, the Atlanta-based Society's National Vice President, Corporate Communications, American Cancer Society. "A critical player on the agency side in the initial development of the Society's first-ever nationwide paid advertising campaign, he's been providing our organization strategic communications and marketing counsel ever since." Goldsmith previously served as the executive vice president and director of account management for the American Cancer Society's national advertising agency of record, T.G. Madison Advertising, Inc. of Atlanta.
The American Cancer Society has been a leader among non-profits in the use of national advertising to advance its lifesaving mission. Recent campaigns have resulted in double digit percentage increases in telephone calls and web visits from Americans seeking more information about cancer from the legendary charity. Goldsmith's continuing contributions to the Society's brand positioning have been vast, from developing and piloting donor affinity programs, to executing national broadcast television advertising campaigns.
A formally trained marketer, Goldsmith holds an MBA from Georgia State University and a bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary. A National Effie Award winner, Goldsmith has also worked as an account supervisor for The Morrison Agency and an account executive for HutchesonShutze Advertising.
