“The Accountant,” winner of Best Short and the Southeastern Media Award at last year’s Atlanta Film & Video Festival (AFVF) has been nominated for an Academy Award for Live Action Short. The short became eligible for the award when it premiered at AFVF and won two awards. The AFVF is one of a few festivals designated as qualifying shorts for Academy Award nomination.
The short was produced by Ginny Mule Pictures and shot in Georgia by Ray McKinnon. This isn’t the first claim to fame for AFVF. The festival showed Chris Nolan’s first film, before he went on to fame with his feature, “Memento.”
The 74th Annual Academy Awards® for film achievements of 2001 will be presented on March 24 and televised live on ABC.
