You want it, you rent it. That’s what “Suites…editing” is betting on. You got the editor, the media, the concept. “Suites” has the equipment. A pretty original concept, or at least the first of its kind in Atlanta. The new company is exclusively a rental facility, with three AVID Symphony non-linear editing suites. President, L. David McCollum said, “We are not a post house… We offer additional services, capabilities and in essence, additional edit rooms for the post houses, editors and end users in our area. We also provide an additional revenue stream to the smaller facilities by offering them the finishing tools that Symphony has so that they can then pass that on to their customers. “ Symphony systems can be rented for short or long term projects, and can be used onsite as well.

The newest member of the new company is Leslie Avery, Account Executive for New Business. Avery brings experience with both production companies and ad agencies. She started out at WestWayne, moving to Tucker Wayne/Luckie. From there she went on to become a Casting Director at Stilwell Casting. After working in the production end of the ad business she decided to go to work for a production company and joined Leo Ticheli Product ions as their Southeast Sales Rep.

All of the identically equipped rooms “Suites” offer have soft ware and hardware including AVID on ICE, After Effects, Boris Red, Photo shop, DVD authoring, removable LVD drives, Videotek digital scopes, DigiBeta, BetaSP and DV. Each room also contains a client computer with DSL internet connectivity, networked with the editor’s computer, as well as the rest of the facility.

Another endeavor for “Suites” is their Editor Co-Op program, a meeting-place, training symposium of sorts. Melaney Mills, Client Services coordinator for “Suites” said, “We want to help foster an environment of information exchange between editors.” As part of the program, a list of freelance editors in the area that have submitted their resumes and demo reels will be available from “Suites.”
