From the slopes to the sales, Post Modern Editorial has heard, seen, and edited it all lately. ESPN and ESPN Classic has kept Post Modern (PME) Editors Christine Deckel, Steve Volpert and Rob Mottola busy. Mottola cut an episode of the ESPN Classic series, “Battle Lines,” examining a 1971 Thanksgiving Day football game between Nebraska and Oklahoma. The 60-minute episode included over 60 interviews, 156 videotapes, vintage stills and radio play-by-play from the ABC broadcast. Mottola cut the off line in PME’s Avid Two suite. Deckel, Volpert and Mottola combined forces to cut the “2001 Salute to Women in Sports,” a 60 minute show which aired Thanksgiving day on ESPN. The program featured 12 vignettes on outstanding female athletes including the WNBA’s Lisa Leslie, Tennis Star Jennifer Capriati, Olympic Softball Pitcher Lisa Fernandez and Olympic Pole Vaulter Stacy Dragila. Deckel and Volpert cut three additional Sports Century episodes. Olympic speed skaters Dan Jansen and Bonnie Blair and Olympic skier Picabo Street were all profiled in separate 30 minute shows.
PME’s Matthew Gore and Effects Designer Sorapin Pintusopon kept Rich’s on the air for the holidays. Working with Rich’s Senior Art Director Glenn Longmuir, they designed and posted Pre-Thanksgiving Sale through New Year’s Sale promoting all of the deals at Rich’s, Goldsmith’s and Lazarus department stores. Gore also cut two spots for Cox Communications promoting the Cox Interactive Program Guide.
The outdoor series “Gone Fishin?” produced by Gore and Captain Mack Farr also continued through December and is slated for a new season in 2002. Gore announced that starting in 2002, “Gone Fishin?” will make its national debut. The series will be re-packaged for air in April on The Outdoor Channel.
