RetroTech Gets Oprah’ed

“Don’t spend so much time in front of that computer.” For Carma Davis, wife of New Business Development Executive for the RetroTechs, an IT outsource company, this must have seemed like an anthem. When she saw an upcoming Oprah Show titled “What Would You Dare to Live Without?” she thought of her husband and his computer. In the case of Carma Davis, nagging paid off.

Carma sent a letter to the daytime diva. A surprise to her and a bigger surprise to husband, Wayne, the show contacted them, interested in their story. A few weeks later Harpo Producers and Editors visited the Davis’ house and Wayne’s office, taping the family’s ‘day to day’ activities. Davis then taped his week without “Maclena,” his home computer. The couple visited the Chicago set of Oprah and shared what happened during the week Maclena slept. The result? Davis says he spent a lot more time with his family, something he wants to continue post-show.

In June, Davis who is not altogether unfamiliar with the camera (he was previously an NFL football player), appeared on TechTV’s’ “The Screen Saver Show.”
