Ballard Shares Millimeter Knowledge
Dave Ballard, President and Effects Artist for LAB 601, recently shared a little know-how in “Millimeter Magazine.” The magazine, which covers motion picture and television productions, is published by Primedia publisher of titles in the B2B and newsstand sector including “Seventeen, “ “Soap Opera Digest, “ and “Folio.” Graphic work by 7ate9 accompanied the story.
LAB 601 christened their new audio post suite, implemented by Comprehensive Technical Group. The suite, featuring Digidesign’s Pro Tools|HD3 system with AVOption|XL, is the first audio suite in Atlanta directly connected to a Unity MediaNet system with Avid Workstations. The new audio system realizes LAB 601’s vision of a shared storage concept, integrating video and audio edit suites at the facility, while making non-linear editing tools accessible to clients. Pro Tools with AVOption|XL is the only audio workstation that can playback Avid media without conversion.
Ballard said, “Thanks to CTG’s expert engineering staff we have a new, powerful audio suite that is able to access media from any of our edit systems, making it both time saving and cost-effective for our clients.” CTG executed Ballard’s idea of a synchronous editing environment. “We were able to take Dave’s vision of a shared storage model and make it a reality, “ said Jim Wile, President and Owner of CTG. “The final piece was to design and integrate this new Pro Tools HD audio suite into the existing infrastructure seamlessly.”
