Civil War Seen in Style

Stone Mountain Productions, Inc. took on the Civil War in a documentary entitled, “The Battle for Georgia – A History of the Civil War in Georgia.” Stone Mountain recently completed post production on the 25 minute documentary film. Narrated by Hollywood legend Hal Holbrook, the documentary was commissioned by the Stone Mountain Memorial Association. The production has been chosen as a Finalist in the Telly Awards in the “History/Biography” and “Use of Graphics” categories.

The Stone Mountain Productions video graphics team used hundreds of archival photographic images which were then manipulated and enhanced through a combination of 2D and 3D Animation. In addition to archival imagery, the Stone Moun tain Productions’ graphics team crosscut their computer based palette with large scale reenactment footage to enhance the sense of drama and scope to better match that of the subject matter. The goal was to create a visual energy and style sometimes lacking in conventional historical documentary.

Stone Mountain produced a musical score, representative of the era, using combinations of acoustic guitar, twin fiddle, mandolin, and banjo to recreate an authentic bluegrass style. The film will be a foundational element in the redesign and renovation of Confederate Hall at Stone Mountain Park.
