Ron Sherman Picks up the Pieces
Simply to add fuel to the digital vs. film photography fire, we offer this: When the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra commissioned Ron Sherman to create a panoramic, intricate, but consummately intimate scene of the organization's summer concert series at Chastain Park, he rose to the challenge. When they suddenly wanted it in a vertical
format for the cover of Atlanta NOW Magazine , rather than panoramic horizontal, he said "sure," he could construct a new picture from the
digital files of the original shot.
Atlanta NOW Magazine had a staff photographer shoot it anyway. Sources say that the next time Sherman heard from them was on the Monday following the Friday deadline. The magazine's photographer was unable to capture the
scene with the same excitement that Sherman was able to produce using his Computer Aided Photography (CAP). The results were striking,
and graced the July/August issue of the magazine.
