The Storyline on the Trail
The Storyline Group, a publishing and media production company, recently helped the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) raise nearly $50,000 with an unusual event that takes hitting the streets for a good cause to the extreme. Attorneys Mike Kanarick and wife Liz Kleinberg hiked the entire length of the 2,172-mile Appalachian Trail to create awareness and raise funds for children in need. The Storyline Group's Gretchen Steininger organized local crews to hike along, and produced a 6:30 TRT piece, "Champions for Children," which captured Kanarick's and Kleinberg's ordeal and led to a featured piece on CNN and several local network affiliates. They began climbing on Springer Mountain in Georgia, ended their trek at the end of the trail in Maine, and in the process raised nearly $50K in contributions.
CWLA is the country's oldest and largest membership-based child welfare organization. The CWLA and its 1,100 private and public member agencies offer help for children separated from their families or in foster care, and adoption programs that help more than 3 million kids per year.
