AVID Design has just completed a new touch-screen kiosk project for Sharp
Healthcare System of San Diego, a project that helps the medical provider educate and
reach potential donors regarding its $50 million fundraising campaign.
The kiosks, which help users learn more about Sharp's history, mission, and
fundraising campaign, will be placed in hospital lobbies, and are titled: Transforming
Health Care in San Diego: The Campaign for Sharp HealthCare.
AVID also produced a similar CD-ROM for Sharp, which includes special
features such as a tax advantage calculator and interactive floor plans for potential
donors. To date more than 1500 of the CD-ROMs have been distributed, and the touch-
screen work grew organically out of this project. Says Bill Littlejohn, Sharp CEO, "We
asked AVID Design to move aspects of the CD-ROM presentation into a touch-screen
kiosk environment for use in high-traffic areas of our hospitals. This is allowing us to
expand our reach while continuing to increase our return on investment."
