Davis Doing Cannes
Davis Advertising's "Join the Fight" PSA was recently honored with placement in
the Cannes Lions Exhibition, held throughout June and July of this year. The work is
being presented as part of AdForum's "ACT Responsible
exhibition: Ads that make us change," and was shown in the Palais des Festivals, La
Croisette.
The patriotic PSA (created entirely with donated talent and facilities) was
developed after the 9/11 terrorist attacks as part of AdForum's Advertising Community
Together (ACT) initiative. The spot earnestly asks viewers to "support your President,
pray for our troops, invest, spend, live your life and be kind to your neighbor." The spot
also won a Gold Video Award at the 2003 Aurora Awards, an international competition
honoring excellence in the film and video industries.
Robert Davis, president
and creative director of Davis Advertising, Inc., enlisted dozens of people eager to
participate in the production of the PSA. "I am encouraged by the selfless attitude of
those who were so willing to donate their time, talents and facilities to this important
initiative against terrorism. I am proud of the fact that the effort of so many has been
honored with a gold video award and with exposure at advertising exhibitions around the
world, including this round at Cannes."
Contributors included the People Store Talent Agency, Inertia Films and
Crawford Communications along with actors and voiceover talent, musicians, graphic
designers, illustrators, an animator, stock
photography/video agencies and extras. Several businesses donated facilities for video
shoots including: North Point Mall, Country Club of the South, and AMC Theatres. Tape
Warehouse donated media.
Davis wrote, directed and
produced the spot.
