They're Fixin' to Fix It
TUBE kicked up its heels and stomped its feet somethin' fierce this July in Grand
Prairie, Texas, for a production shoot for Nextel. Cameron Carter of Deardorff
Communications hired TUBE to shoot and post a 5-minute video that would demonstrate
the unique philosophy and work environment of the Nextel Repair Depot to other Nextel
divisions.
To capture the energetic, positive attitude of the employees that results in the
Depot's high productivity, TUBE choose a documentary format with an informal
interview style. At their work stations, with their colleagues, and while they play ping-
pong and dominoes, Nextel employees openly talk about their experience with engaging
enthusiasm. The video was shot 24P by TUBE's Chris Downs and online was performed
in the firm's Final Cut Pro/Cinewave 1:1 suite.
Traveling on to New York, TUBE also filmed the husband, wife and daughter
team at Laughing Pizza Productions, as they performed a fundraising concert at New
York's renowned sweets store, Dylan's Candy Bar. The two-camera shoot documented
Laughing Pizza as they performed their original award-winning music for children live in
front of a young, enthralled audience. From the concert shoot, TUBE edited a promo
video that will be viewable on the Laughing Pizza site and will also be put to DVD for
use in booking.
This fall TUBE is also slated to work with Laughing Pizza on the production and
post of "Share A Smile," a thirty-minute DVD release comprised of six music videos for
children, interviews and live performances.
And finally, "Briars in the Cotton Patch: the Story of Koinonia Farm" has been
selected to receive a 2004 CINE Golden Eagle Award. Narrated by former Atlanta
Mayor Andrew Young and shown at the 2003 Atlanta Film Festival,
the documentary is scheduled for national release by PBS-Plus to all 349 PBS stations in
February
2005 as part of Black History Month.
