2,163 miles south of Atlanta, Michie Turpin and Josh Peters have been forging friendships of the Eastern Caribbean kind in Trinidad/Tobago. Last Month Turpin and Peters traveled down to shoot a concert DVD for an up-and-coming Caribbean band, Orange Sky.

Michie Turpin acted as director and project manager, while Josh Peters worked as assistant director and prepared to fulfill his main job as editor back home at Real 2 Reel Studios. The trip afforded them just two days of setup, including design work,

and their time spent on the island helped inspire the finished product. They "borrowed" authentic materials from the natives they met to create a set that represented the "real" Trinidad and to provide an understated palette for the bold rock concert DVD.

A local crew came together for the filming at Club Zen, where the lighting had to be reformatted to complement the video requirements before thousands of fans showed up for the sold-out performance. Their efforts were rewarded with a flawless show and video that were ready to be transported back home for the offline and online edit in the AVID editing suite at Real 2 Reel Studios. The DVD authoring and programming will also be completed at the Atlanta-based studio.

While a concert DVD in Trinidad may seem like a stretch for this local team, these guys have been through this before. Several years ago, Real 2 Reel Studios created a live concert DVD for Kansas called "Device Voice Drum," shot on film at the local venue Earthlink Live. The

DVD's great success led to their connection to Orange Sky, who recently signed a distribution deal with Universal. This concert DVD landmarks Orange Sky's debut album should serve as the launching pad for their careers.

When Michie and Josh aren't soaking up the tropical rays, they are busy tending to their many regional clients and creating alliances with local advertising agencies that showcase their extensive commercial experience. Real 2 Reel Studios, which also houses a 2400 sq.ft. recording studio, is located just south of the city.
