Standing on Higher Ground Standing on Higher Ground The Atlanta Communications Complex is a village of ten independent companies interconnected with a digital infrastructure. Offering a full array of complimentary services in television and communication, the ACC changed recently with the merger of two companies. Artisan PictureWorks Ltd. combines the Atlanta Video Production Center, Inc. (AVPC) and Berkeley Park Post, Inc. Joe Gora, President of ACC, explains that Artisan PictureWorks inherits a 20 year reputation for premiere video production and the newly upgraded post-production facilities that were at Berkeley Park Post. Bryan Gartman, Vice President of AVPC, restructured both companies to improve client services. Artisan customers will find a powerful infrastructure of studios, crews, non-linear and digital linear post-production, and cutting-edge production equipment, including the newest and hottest XL-1, Cannon DVC Camcorder.
Gora, CEO of Artisan PictureWorks and the Atlanta Communications Complex, is producing two television programs. Currently in production is Higher Ground, a talk show designed to address social issues in a non-confrontational manner. (The opposite of Geraldo.) Hosted by Josetta S. Howard, the show explores new solutions to common problems. The show aims to empower individuals and inspire positive change for themselves, their neighborhoods and future generations. Higher Ground aired on Media One's Channel 33 in April. The first programs were entitled "Voluntarily Simplifying Our Lives," "Alternative Medicine," "Neighborhoods," and "Male Dominated Society in America." Program topics being developed are, "The Child Within Us," "Female Equality-2000 and Beyond," "Food for Thought and Real Health-Macrobiotics," and "Wealth Distribution-Our True Value."
Gora also is producing a second program, Golden Foods. Three test pilots are already in the can. Golden Foods provides information about natural and organic foods, increasing the viewer's knowledge on acquiring, preparing, and enjoying natural foods. Golden Foods is scheduled to be ready in the third quarter of 1998.
