Tony Messano, VP/Associate Creative Director, Sawyer Riley Compton | Angela Southard, Senior Public Relations Counselor, Sawyer Riley Compton |
SRC found who they were looking for, Bart Cleveland, in its own back yard. This talented new Senior Vice President and Executive Creative Director was Executive Vice President and Executive Creative Director at Atlanta's Fletcher Martin Associates (formerly Tausche Martin Lonsdorf). Cleveland has won many national and international creative awards. In 1996, his own agency, Cleveland Clark, was recognized with over 100 advertising awards including CA, Graphis Design and Advertising Annuals, The One Show, Clio, Obie, and Archive. Cleveland also won Best of Show at the 1996 Atlanta Addys and was the single largest winner of awards and medals at ShowSouth '96, with 11 medals of the 19 awards received. Cleveland began his career as an Art Director for Dennard Creative in Dallas, then spent four years at Craig Lamm Hensley & Alderman, in Houston. Cleveland also worked at Benito Advertising, Saatchi & Saatchi in Rochester, NY, and Henderson Advertising in Atlanta.
Tony Messano, recently promoted to Vice President and Associate Creative Director, served as Interim Creative Director. Messano supervised the development of the creative product on all of the agency's accounts including Elanco Animal Health, Eaton Corporation, James Hardie Building Products, and Gold Kist, Inc. Messano began his advertising career at J. Walter Thompson, where he was the youngest Art Director in the agency's history. He has won many awards, including appearances in The One Show, Communication Arts Annual, The New York Art Directors Club, and The Effies. Messano is also an instructor at The Portfolio Center.
Jennifer McPeak has also been promoted. McPeak, who has worked for the agency since 1996, will now be an Account Executive working on the Delta Apparel and NationsCredit advertising accounts. Involved in Atlanta's creative community for the past few years, McPeak helped organize the first Atlanta Creative Summit, and currently is working with the Creative Club of Atlanta to sponsor speakers for their third annual event. McPeak also works on a volunteer committee developing the marketing and communication plan for Project Read, an organization in Atlanta fighting adult illiteracy.
Angela Southard has been added as a Senior Public Relations Counselor and will manage the public relations component of the integrated James Hardie siding products account. Southard previously was an Account Supervisor at Edelman Public Relations Worldwide and is a former television Reporter, Anchor, and Producer for WLTX-TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbia, SC. An active member of the Atlanta community, Southard is a board member and communications chair for the Greater Atlanta and Northern Georgia Make-A-Wish Foundation. Southard has a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Columbia College, and a master of science in broadcast journalism from Boston University.
1998 is definitely off to a great start at Sawyer Riley Compton after adding three national accounts: one advertising account, Delta Apparel, and two public relations accounts, James Hardie Building Products and Disposition Services Group. Combined billings for the three accounts are estimated at $3.5 million. In addition, Associate Media Director Elizabeth Belcher and Michael Marchesano, President and CEO of BPA International, led a seminar on how to build a better business-to-business media plan. Atlanta area media planners and buyers were invited, and the seminar was co-sponsored by AAAA and BPA International.
