Throughout the month of May, The Art Institute of Atlanta hosted an exhibit by digital design studio Parallax Studios. Founded in 1993 by Joe Baines and David Clevenger, Parallax Studios is an image management and digital design studio specializing in design, studio photography, 3-D imaging, video to print conversion, web design, and multimedia. The exhibit features examples of digital design, creative imaging, and other cutting-edge digital works, and provides a mentoring opportunity for students at The Art Institute. Janet S. Day, President of The Art Institute strives to create partnerships with the applied-arts industry, combining lecture and lab time with industry exposure. According to Parallax's Baines, the partnership is mutually beneficial. Baines currently employees three graduates of the college.

Larry Stultz joins the Art Institute as the Academic Department Director in graphic design. Stultz, a member of the college's faculty since Spring 1997, is the former owner and manager of several design studios in Atlanta and New Orleans. In addition, Stultz taught advertising and graphic design at The Portfolio Center in Atlanta and at North Georgia College in Dahlonega, and he holds a masters degree in visual design from Purdue University. Philip Hopper was also appointed to The Art Institute's faculty as Academic Department Director in video production. Hopper has a wide range of industry experience from experimental image processing and multimedia forms to more traditional documentary and narrative works. Hopper previously worked in New York City as a Freelance Producer and Editor, and past teaching experience includes the School of the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, and Manhattan Marymount College, New York. In addition, Hopper was a Broadcast Supervisor with New York University's broadcast journalism program.
