Kor Snags Seasoned Veteran Kor Snags Seasoned Veteran Kor Media welcomes Mark Pettit, a seasoned marketing executive from MCI, as Executive Vice President and Partner. Pettit, who has also been elected to Kor's Board of Directors, will be based in Atlanta. He will provide strategic and creative guidance to Kor and its growing list of nationally known clients such as The Coca-Cola Company, MCI, Delta Airlines, Samsung, Kimberly-Clark, Advanced Micro Devices, Nortel, Home Depot, and Arby's Franchise Association. Pettit will also work on interactive media and development projects for J. Walter Thompson and GSD&M. K. Joseph Swain, Kor's President and Chief Executive Officer believes Pettit's creative and strategic thinking will help Kor and its clients immensely.
In addition to his duties at Kor, Pettit has formed his own firm, Creaxion, to offer creative and strategic counsel in new media, communications, and entertainment. Kor has purchased a minority stake in the new company, which will have offices in Atlanta and Miami.
Before joining Kor and starting Creaxion, Pettit spent five years at MCI. Having served as Director of Communications for both the business and consumer units of MCI, Pettit coordinated, supervised, or played a role in every major product launch during his tenure at the company. In addition to managing media and public relations around some of the best known brands in the business including "Friends & Family," 1-800-COLLECT, and networkMCI, Pettit also counseled senior execs like MCI's President and COO, Timothy F. Price. While at MCI, Pettit forged a number of "Power Partnerships" that tied the MCI brand to other well known marketers like Calvin Klein, CNBC, AARP, and Rock the Vote. He also negotiated and executed entertainment marketing agreements that linked the company to franchise properties like Batman & Robin, Lost in Space, and the syndicated series Gene Rodenberry's Earth: Final Conflict, and the movie Mother.
<$t-3>Before joining MCI, Pettit worked for Ketchum Communications (Atlanta) for two years, coaching senior executives at major corporations on how to interact with the media. Pettit also spent eight years as a journalist working in both print and television news, winning three Emmy Awards. In his spare time, Pettit enjoys writing. He is the author of A Need to Kill, the true crime story of Nebraska serial child killer John Joubert. He also enjoys writing comedy and oversees "Laugh Out," a humorous web site. Pettit attended the University of Nebraska, Omaha, where he majored in journalism.
