Turner Production Garners National Sports Emmy Turner Production Garners National Sports Emmy
Turner Production's national Sports Emmy winning virtual set.
Turner Production's state-of-the-art virtual studio earned industry recognition in the form of a National Sports Emmy, "The George Wensel Innovative Technical Achievement Award." Now entering its second season of using a virtual studio to cover the NBA Playoffs on TNT and TBS, Turner Production continues to produce the only live daily sports programming in a virtual environment. William Chapman of Turner Production Effects is proud of the recognition as a pioneer in new technology and a leader in innovative programming. Chapman designed and implemented the overall system in 1996. The virtual equipment has allowed Turner Production to offer its clients unsurpassed creative broadcasting possibilities as producers are no longer subject to the limitations of a physical set.

Brian Raslawski, Engineering Manager of Turner Production Effects, engineered the system integration. Computer Programmer Frederick Haab wrote the proprietary software for Turner's specific needs. Debra Lowman, Virtual Set Designer/Animator, served as troubleshooter of all components during design and installation, and operated the equipment during live broadcasts.
