Next Wave shooting with style on the Prime Retail account
Next Wave and Fizz City Films produced two :30 shopping mall spots for Voyage Communications, Inc.'s client Prime Retail. Next Wave Executive Producer Jo Gipson worked with Fizz City Director/D.P. Mark Simon and Voyage Communications Creative Director Joe McGinnis to create a virtual fashion show. The 2 day, 35mm shoot utilized tracking dots, a runway, a green screen background, and some fantastic crew members. The spots feature model Brenda Aaronson, walking down the runway with scrolling store logos underfoot. Big Mouth Post was responsible for the post production. FLINT/FLAME artist Dave Sarbell used the FLINT for extensive compositing, tracking, flash effects and text treatments. Moving type emphasized the spot's message while larger than life backgrounds changed with the styles of each scene.

Next Wave and Big Mouth Post also completed three :15 spots for the Atlanta ad agency Ivory Communications. Partner Terry Sagedy headed the agency's production while Bob Tatum directed the creative. The spots were produced for THE M CENTER, a men's health care clinic located in South Carolina. Directed by Next Wave partner Gipson, the spots "Gut Check" and "Not Tonight" were captured on 16mm at Crawford Studio Two. The one day shoot utilized real time and stop motion photography. Big Mouth Creative Director/Partner Stephen Cocks assisted Gipson and DP Simon to achieve the "MTV" energy. The crew included Next Wave's Kim Evans, Production Manager; Joe Thomas, AC; Gary Holmes, Gaffer; Vinnie Nappo, Key Grip; Frank Lopez, Video Assist; and Holly Smith, Props.

The third spot, "Wake Up," was created entirely on the FLINT by Sarbell, who took a hi-res still of a moon and manipulated it by creating a ripple effect synched with the obnoxious audio of a man snoring. Sarbell also utilized optic burns to create transitions for the three spots. The Avid off-line was cut by Freelance Avid Editor Tim Parks. Partner/Composer John Lambert recorded the VO's and created the original sound design.
