Gillespie Grabs Gold Gillespie Grabs Gold Bob Gillespie, Sound Designer and Owner of Oasis Recording, won an Emmy for "Individual Excellence in Audio" at the Southern Regional Awards show for his work on "The Edge of Extinction." The documentary, produced by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for Georgia Public Television, focuses on birds, whales, and other endangered species in the Southeastern United States. Most of the sounds in the film were created or added in audio post at Oasis' studios. Some were recorded on location, then sweetened and manipulated to match the picture. Other sounds came from existing digital libraries, and many were produced on the foley stage, imitating sounds such as woodpeckers and turtle footsteps. "The Edge of Extinction" was co-produced by Becky Marshall and Jim Couch, of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, with Marshall as Script Writer and Couch as Filmmaker. Music for the production was composed and arranged by Steve Hulse. The film aired twice last fall on GPTV's state network.
