Shirk's career started in Cleveland, where he graduated from the Cooper School of Art, but scans from coast to coast. His most recent stint at The Morrison Agency involved creative development on the Georgia's Clean Air Force campaign, MUDD Facial Masques, Powell Goldstein Attorneys, and Perimeter Mall, among others. Prior to Morrison, Shirk was EVP/Creative Director and Partner at St. John & Partners in Jacksonville, FL where he worked on such accounts as Southern Ford Dealers, Mayo Clinic, PGA Tour, and Amelia Island. Shirk was Group Creative Director for Ogilvy & Mather, in Atlanta, from 1989 to 1994, and Creative Group Head for Dailey & Associates, in Los Angeles. Shirk is a past President of the Creative Club of Atlanta, and has served in numerous leadership roles in creative organizations throughout the country. His creative work has been recognized in countless awards programs, including Show South, the ADDY's, and the CLIO's, and was twice named a Cann's Lion finalist. In 1987, he was named "Advertising Person of the Year," by the Cincinnati Ad Club.
This announcement comes on the heels of a significant account win for the agency. The Athlete's Foot added $7 to $8 million in annual billings to Crumbley & Alba's roster. According to Lee, they were in the final stages of discussions with Shirk when they were chosen for the account. Both processes were running down parallel paths, but for the most part unrelated.
