The two companies were introduced when APC Studios' Executive Vice President, Laurie Nappo, used the 24-hour pediatric information service "RiteCall," provided by Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center. RiteCall staffs "around-the-clock" nurses to assist patients with questions they may have during non-business hours. Impressed with this service, Nappo became interested in ways APC Studios could support the hospital through their media services. APC has a grant program that gives nonprofit, or philanthropic organizations, access to the high end media production that APC offers. The creative team at Scottish Rite submitted a grant application to be considered for the production of a :15 trailer. Immediately after the grant was awarded to Scottish Rite, both creative teams collaborated on various ideas in which the well known geometric Scottish Rite children would come to life. Within Holovision, Connor was able to transform the "flat" illustrations into three dimensional characters and place them against a cartoon stage utilizing programs such as SoftImage, 3D Studio Max, and Adobe Illustrator.
Other recent APC Studio grant recipients include: The Atlanta Humane Society, March of Dimes, The Alma Awards, The American Cancer Society, Peachtree International Film Society, Habitat for Humanity, and The AIDS Foundation.
