In the Flesh Completed In the Flesh Completed "In the Flesh," the directorial debut of local screenwriter Ben Taylor, is at last complete. Executive produced by Taylor and Joe Ansley, with Julie Lee as Producer, the independent film enters the festival circuit, having been accepted in seven festivals including Chicago, Austin, San Francisco, and Germany. "In the Flesh" was shot in Atlanta in 1997, using all local cast and crew. The drama involves Phillip Kirsch, an undercover cop, and Oliver Beck, a student working nights in the hustler scene. When Oliver is accused of killing one of his clients, the cop becomes his alibi and a lesson in trust begins.

Other folks that worked on the film include: Robert Ballentine, 1st Assistant Director; Dan Estes, Actor; Michael Newcomer, Actor; Brandon O'Dell, Actor; Michael Cammack, Actor; Brent Brooks, Actor; and Andrew Averett, Actor. The Atlanta community helped Taylor and Lee with both production and post-production. Tower Records, The Coronet Club, and the old MJQ bar welcomed the cast and crew. VanDerKloot/Magick Lantern completed post-production with Bazyl Dripps editing, Patrick Belden in charge of sound design, and negatives were cut by Theresa Dabbs. The film's music included everything from music by the local band ODK, and Athens musician Wes Yoakum and his former band Pop Cycle, to Erasure and Gene Pitney.

Taylor is now busy developing his next project, "Learning to Fly," with Estes starring as a mentally challenged kid whose brother forces him to live on his own. Taylor hopes he can work again with many of the same people as before, and he has a new philosophy towards making films. He believes that "In the Flesh's" young, enthusiastic, hungry people were the movie's heroes. "They might not have been the most experienced, but they worked hard to prove themselves and had fun doing it." He explains that he won't forget that next time.
