MUST SEE INDIE! MUST SEE INDIE! IMAGE Film & Video Center is proud to present "THE LAST BROADCAST," a special screening sponsored by Kennesaw based Digital Projection, on Thursday, March 18, 1999, at 8 PM at AMC Phipps Plaza. "THE LAST BROADCAST," a mock documentary about the gruesome fate of two cable show hosts, is a milestone in filmmaking, or rather, media making. Lance Weiler and Stefan Avalos's digitally shot and posted show has taken the indie world by storm. Weiler and Avalos spent a total of $900 on "THE LAST BROADCAST," using PC's, a Sony DV camcorder, Hi-8, and even a Tyco kid's video camcorder to create their work. Their project became, last October, the first ever feature film released via national satellite to five cities simultaneously. The work has traveled to festivals around the world to critical acclaim and has generated a great deal of interest in the prospects of digital filmmaking in general. Weiler and Avalos sat on several panels at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival, discussing the future of production and distribution of digital work for independent directors. Opening a new chapter in low budget filmmaking, no one interested or working in independent film or video can afford to ignore Weiler and Avalos' achievement: the ultimate low budget project that did not sacrifice quality or story.
IMAGE is pleased to present a digitally projected screening of "THE LAST BROADCAST," sponsored by Digital Projection. Digital Projection is the Kennesaw, GA based leading electronic cinema projection manufacturer. Seats are $6, $5 for IMAGE members.
