Telecine Upgrades at VTA Telecine Upgrades at VTA VTA's film department recently made several upgrades to its URSA Gold telecines. The upgrades include TWiGi, SCAN'dAL, and the Y-Front cell box, all developed and manufactured by Innovation TK, Ltd.
The TWiGi addresses the visual noise introduced as images are converted from analog to digital signals. By reducing noise production at its source, during the conversion process, the TWiGi produces a significant improvement in picture quality as well as a reduction in artifacts and tube grain. It also improves the accuracy and responsiveness of the tracking capabilities.
SCAN'dAL is new scanning technology that eliminated the aliasing and moire often found in transfers with fine image detail or subjects that have a multitude of horizontal or vertical lines, such as venetian blinds and striped or plaid fabrics. Picture sharpness and detail are enhanced and at its highest setting, SCAN'dAL eliminated interlace flicker.
The Y-Front cell box creates a shorter light path, directing the light through better lenses and new proprietary photo sensors that collect the diffused and refracted light from the film grain. This minimizes scratches and shading problems, like a wetgate, and improves color saturation. The Y-Front also provides a bandwidth of more than 60 megahertz per color channel, twice the bandwidth required for high definition.
