Executive Changes Prepare Crawford for Move Executive Changes Prepare Crawford for Move Crawford Communications has named one new officer to the company and promoted two officers to oversee the company's moving and expanding operations. Paul Hansil, previously Vice President of Strategic Planning, has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Jim Schuster, formerly the Vice President of Satellite Services, has been promoted to Senior Vice President. Craig Heyl has been promoted from FilmGroup's (a service area of Crawford Communications) Director of Operations to Vice President of Post Production Services. These promotions reflect Crawford's plan to position the company for continuing growth.

Hansil, who rejoined the company in May 1998, has over 25 years of experience in the television and computer technology industries. Hansil will be working directly with Jesse Crawford to establish and execute long term tactical company positioning. Schuster, with Crawford since 1986, has served as Vice President of Satellite Services since 1993. Schuster will oversee the operations of Satellite Services, Production Services, and InterMedia. Heyl has been with Crawford since 1990 and has been the Director of Operations for the FilmGroup since it was founded in 1997. Heyl will be responsible for all aspects of post production services, including editing, audio, graphics, telecine, and film lab.

Crawford recently created the broadcast design package for the recently televised 50th anniversary of NATO. Coordinated through its Washington, DC. office, Crawford created a graphic identity, an event open, several thematic opens, and a graphic standards manual for the international organization. The project began with a discussion between Crawford and Koch Television(Executive Broadcast Producer) to determine the graphic elements needed to deliver a complete and seamless broadcast. After the elements were decided, Crawford began by developing a uniform event look. Bob Judson, Director of Business Development, stated that after they established the overall appearance, they created a template for each country consisting of their flag, country, and leader's name. The graphic elements in each of these templates were used together or separately depending on the broadcast need.

And now, news on the big move! Crawford selected Sony's Systems Integration to transfer the company's 150,000 square foot facility to a new location two miles away, while keeping its services fully functional. The $10 million project, which will relocate nearly 300 employees, involves installing Sony's state of the art digital equipment piece by piece, duplicating the current facility. According to Hansil, the goal is to upgrade its capabilities and make the move seamless to its employees and clients. During the first phase of the move, Sony Systems Integration will build a fully capable digital infrastructure in the new building. This infrastructure will duplicate the current 11 acre campus style facility, and allow Crawford Communications to maintain operation of its eight businesses, including 23 cable channels that operate 24 hours, seven days per week. The second phase will involve relocating the remaining equipment in the seven building facility to the new upgraded facility. Crawford has also ordered a 24-fader, 96 channel Solid State Logic Avant digital console for its new mega facility. Crawford's audio strategy includes large scale networking and system integration, utilizing SSL digital consoles. This will take Crawford into the next millennium as the largest integrated audio facility in the US.
