Primal Screen Promotes Hard Rock
Primal Screen recently delivered a promo for Hard Rock Live to the Latin American division of TNT. The show is a weekly concert series shot live at stateside Hard Rock Cafes and broadcast throughout the world. The object of the promo is to place the viewer into a psychedelic concert poster like those used by the Fillmore in the sixties. With its wrapping and warping type, this was one of the first projects composited in Adobe's After Effects 4.0. As beta testers for Adobe, the designers had the opportunity to put the new version through its paces before the general release. The music was written and arranged in house by Stephen Mank. In keeping with the theme, the music is rife with such trippy trappings as backward guitar, harpsichord, and sitar. The beat, however, is decidedly modern. Primal Screen's staff of 30 have been creating cel, computer and stop motion animation, music composition and sound design for the past four years. The company's clients include Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and PBS.
