STC Garners Two Consecutive Wins STC Garners Two Consecutive Wins The Society for Technical Communication Atlanta Chapter has earned the 1998-99 Chapter Achievement Award for chapters with 300 or more members. The award was announced at the Society's 46th Annual Conference Awards Banquets in Cincinnati, OH. The Chapter Achievement Award is the highest honor that the Society bestows upon local chapters for excellence in programs and activities. The Atlanta Chapter also earned the 1997-98 Achievement Award. This is the first time that a chapter has earned this award in two consecutive years. STC also honored Kenneth T. Rainey, Ph.D. with the Jay R. Gould Award for Excellence in Teaching Technical Communication. This award is presented annually to recognize academic faculty in technical communication for outstanding contributions in the classroom. Rainey is Professor of Humanities and Technical Communication at Southern Polytechnic State University and a Fellow of STC. He is presently teaching technical communication at Fachhochschule Magdeburg in Germany.
