Laura Kab 1965 - 1999 Laura Kab 1965 - 1999

Laura worked in and around Atlanta for the last six years as an Avid Editor and Documentary Producer. She was 34 years old, beautiful in spirit and appearance, sharing the best days of her life with all who knew her.

Among her many spectacular characteristics, Laura Kab was an artist. She exhibited many of the traits one often attributes to artists: deep compassion and sensitivity, creativity, and a bountiful love of life. Not necessarily a love of everyday life, but rather a love of life, everyday. Laura had the exquisite ability to put these wonderful traits to work in all her practical endeavors, whether at work or at home. Laura consistently focused her talents on making the world, near and far, a better place. Her ability and will to pursue the practical matters of life with her artist's temperament made Laura most special.

For those who were closest to Laura, for those who broke bread at her table and drank wine in her candlelight, she was one of the bravest souls on earth.

Her work ranged from labors of love to freelance projects to pay the bills. Documentaries in progress, with Laura producing and editing, included a project exploring spirituality, the soul, and eternal life; and a project examining the pain of childhood abuse and the healing process. Laura had also recently donated a great deal of time and energy editing a documentary about the life of Mother Theresa, a person whom Laura identified with greatly. In an ironic twist, Laura's death came two years to the day after Mother Theresa's.

In a further irony, Laura had recently expressed a desire to win an award for her work in commercials and corporate video. This past month, she did just that. Her work for UPS on a corporate video earned a Gold Award from the International Television Association. The name of the video: "Seize the Moment."

Anyone who knew Laura Kab knew that one of her mantras was "Seize the Moment." It was not something she said, it was the way she lived. All who ever seized a moment with Laura will be forever blessed. As is she, forever.
