Crawford Communications, Inc. was honored at the teleproduction industry's International Monitor Awards. Greg Crawford and Rob Sanders of Crawford Audio received awards for creative excellence in the area of audio post production. Sponsored by the International Teleproduction Society (ITS), the awards were presented in July in New York. Sanders' audio work on Earth: Final Conflict-Summer Campaign was recognized as best in the category on on-air promotion. Crawford Communications produces the Earth: Final Conflict broadcast season promos for Tribune Creative Services Group. Last year, Sanders received an International Monitor Award for his audio post production work on the non-broadcast video of Hercules & Xena, also for Tribune. Greg Crawford won a Monitor award for his audio work on Pain in the Splash, which was selected as best in the local commercial category. Creative Director Tim Bayless of Bayless and Partners, with Producer Susie Lewis made the commercial for client White Water.
Crawford recently finished principal photography on the first five of thirteen episodes for the high definition television series, The Treasure Seekers. Production company, JWM Productions, utilized the resources of Crawford's facility and shot all of the re-creation scenes in Crawford's Atlanta studio for the episodes, titled Treasures of the Aegean, Rome, Maya, Cambodia, and Egypt. The television series is being developed for the newly formed National Geographic Channels next year. The Treasure Seekers series focuses on the people who have searched for the glories of previous civilizations. Each episode chronicles the lives of at least two adventurers and their passion, from Ancient Rome, to the pharaohs of Egypt, to the city of Troy, the series tells the stories of those extraordinary people who pursued lost treasures. After airing on the National Geographic Channels Worldwide, the series will be available for distribution as 26 half-hour episodes.
Crawford Communications recently began originating the Knoxville, TN based Home & Garden Television network (HGTV). Crawford will originate HGTV to its 55 million subscribers until the network's current expansion efforts in Knoxville are completed. "We've (HGTV) been using Crawford as our disaster recovery site (network originator in the event of a facilities failure) for the last three years and have been extremely pleased with the service we have received," said Mark Hale, Senior Vice President of Operations, HGTV. The company has recently won their second consecutive "Uplinker of the Year" award from LORAL SKYNET. To qualify for an "Uplinker of the Year" award, a company must demonstrate satellite uplink perfection (100% error-free accessing) in the calendar year. In 1997, Crawford won a bronze award with 151 error-free accesses. Crawford won a silver award with 456 flawless executions in the 1998 calendar year. Crawford has won the award a total of four times this decade.
