Art Institute has Designs on Helping Others Art Institute has Designs on Helping Others
Based on the concept of a community combining forces to help an individual member, the Art Institute of Atlanta’s Second Annual Web Raising Event is designed to help local non-profit groups establish a web presence. In one day, and at no cost to the community organizations, faculty and students donate their creative and technical expertise to launch six non-profit organizations into cyberspace. This year’s beneficiary organizations are the Charis Circle Board, the Conflict Resolution Center, the Atlanta Wildlife Rescue Effort, the Georgia Coalition Against Family Violence, Rainbow, and the Southern Regional Council. The event was held in January at the Institute’s new Dunwoody campus.
The national Art Institutes schools have also announced the Students Against Violence (SAV) poster contest for high school students. According to Erika Orris, The Art Institute’s Vice President of High School Programs, the poster contest is designed to highlight and support the national concerns about violence in schools. All posters need to depict an anti violence message and judging will be based on theme and design. The winner will receive a $500 cash award and have the poster printed and distributed to schools across the country to promote SAV.
