Atlanta’s Primal Screen teamed up recently with Space Ghost nemesis Brak and Cartoon Network to launch “Brak Presents the Brak Show Starring Brak,” a half-hour musical variety show with an evil twist. The show of traditional cell animation, live-action, 3D, and photography features the animated Brak grooving with R&B singer Monica, getting jiggy with Celtic folk band The Chieftains, and hanging with teen dream Freddie Prinze, Jr. Zorak, a regular on Space Ghost’s live-action/animated talk program “Space Ghost Coast to Coast,” guest stars along with announcer Wally Gator. Primal Screen worked the show’s sound design.
Those behind-the-scenes who made the pilot come to life include Technical Director/Director of Photography Douglass Grimmett, Sound Director/Additional Music Stephen Mank, Producer Jim Threlkeld, Animation Directors Matthew I. Jenkins and David M. Strandquest, Cartoon Network Supervising Producer Pete Smith and Cartoon Network Producer Jim Fortier. “The Brak Show” debuted February 20 and a second episode aired in March. Space Ghost has yet to comment on his rival’s TV attempt.
