Austin Kelley Advertising recently hired John Spalding as Copywriter. Prior to joining the Austin Kelley staff, Spalding worked with Fletcher Martin, West Group, Cole Henderson Drake, and Sawyer Riley Compton. He will be working on the Primis, Net ByTel.com, Arvida, and the UPS accounts.

Austin Kelley Advertising recently completed several spots for the Georgia Lottery in which they went for laughs. The first project was three Georgia Lottery spots with the Godfather of soul and fellow Georgian, James Brown. The spots feature a starstruck suburban couple, played by Atlanta actors Wendy Melkonian and John Newburg, who employ Brown to give voice lessons, record their answering machine message, and help host a party. The campaign was filmed in a house in Little Five Points. Creative credits go to T.J. Aseltyne, Copywriter; Steve Andrews, Art Director; and Sheryl Jessing, Vice President/Director of Broadcast Production.

In addition, an Austin Kelley team also produced a television spot entitled “Seat Up” which makes light of guys being guys. In the spot, a husband gets out of bed in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and encounters an alarm system reminding him to put the toilet seat down. The alarm system, of course, had been installed by his wife with her lottery winnings. Creative credits include, Duncan Stone, Associate Creative Director/Copywriter; Jim Spruell, Senior Vice President/Executive Creative Director; Wayne Craig, Director, and Sally Lynch of Austin Kelley Advertising produced the spot.
