Hong Kong Relies on Soapbox Hong Kong Relies on Soapbox

Soapbox Studios has just completed a two month session with Hong Kong based independent film companies Red Lantern and Golden Harvest Films on a movie called Miles Apart. The movie was shot on locations in and around Hong Kong. Actor/Director Michael Wong, Producer/Writer Keith Humphry and Music Supervisor Eric Turk were on hand for the session. Soapbox was responsible for all sound effects, editing, ADR, and the original sound track for the feature, to be released in Asia later this year. Partner Darin Prindle wrote all music for DP Productions. All tape transfers from PAL to NTSE were done at VTA Atlanta.

In addition Soapbox Studios was commissioned to handle all the music and sound design for the new Cartoon Network channel “Boomerang” on April 1st 2000. Engineer Michael Kohler was responsible for this task and worked with the design team Olive Jar in Boston on the project. Cartoon Network Development has a new cartoon series called “JBVO” which Soapbox Studios has been given the task of working on this weekly project. Engineer Roy Clements, Craig Gordon, and Elyssa Bass are the Producers working on the show’s episodes.

Oprah Winfrey’s new television Internet Media Company Oxygen based in New York called on Soapbox studios to help with the launch of the network. Engineer Michael Kohler handled all sound design. Executive Producer for Oxygen was Lynn Sadofsky.

Soapbox makes more bubbles by introducing video services. With the existing four audio rooms booked during the day and with the night sessions booked up with Hong Kong’s Red Lantern Films, Soapbox has started construction on two more rooms. “One room will be a Protools system for audio,” says owner VP Yvette Prindle “and the second will house an Avid system. We did not want to do video but the demand we kept getting from clients made us reconsider, if this goes well we will put in a second system.” The build out will include an extension of the machine room to house additional video decks. The new rooms will be complete and ready for work the first week of June.
