iXL: Sign of the Times iXL: Sign of the Times
As iXL Enterprises readies the former EQUIFAX building to occupy as its new international headquarters, iXL immediately emblazons the Atlanta skyline. The iXL logo will dominate the Brookwood Interchange, one of the busiest interstate interchanges in Atlanta. The huge sign that will cap the building (the dot on the “i” weighs 1,000 pounds) is emblematic of the vitality of the new economy in Atlanta, and more importantly, the commitment that iXL has made to Atlanta, and the belief that Atlanta is and will be a new media capitol. Many thanks to all at iXL for choosing to keep their international headquarters in Atlanta, and thanks to Bert Ellis, Chairman and CEO of iXL Enterprises, and Doug Pendergrast, General Manager of iXL Atlanta for the hospitality at a May event commemorating raising the huge sign over the building.
Strategic Internet services firm iXL, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of iXL Enterprises, recently hired two senior executives to join the company’s Atlanta management team. Phil Sharpe is the Vice President of Engineering, and Jim Rendek is the Vice President of Creative Services.
In his new role, Sharpe is charged with determining and developing the competitive engineering capabilities that ensure successful, rapid delivery of iXL implementations across the company’s industry and service groups. Prior to joining iXL, Sharpe was an Engagement Manager for S1 Corporation, a leading Internet solution provider to the financial services industry.
As Vice President of Creative Services, Rendek will oversee iXL’s creative, film and video, graphic design, and interface development teams. His challenge will be to combine these groups into a single unit in an effort to streamline the company’s creative delivery process. Rendek previously served as the Senior Vice President and Creative Director for WestWayne, where he led the database and interactive group. Through his 18 years with WestWayne, Rendek worked with clients such as American Express, BellSouth, Boeing, Carnation, Intel, Microsoft, Publix Supermarkets, Russell Athletic, Visio, and Westin Resorts.
