Technically, They Communicate Technically, They Communicate

Technical Communicators from several local firms earned Best of Show Awards for their entries in the Technical Communications Competitions of the Society of Technical Communications Atlanta Chapter. The Best of Show is elected from among the top award winners in a competition as the best entry in that competition.

Ray Teegarden, NCR Corporation of Duluth, earned the Best of Show Award for his entry in the Online Communications Competition. The LOMA team, LOMA of Atlanta, earned the Best of Show Award for their entry in the Technical Publications Competition. These award-winning technical communicators received their award plaques at the Atlanta Chapter’s Awards Banquet on April 19. The purpose of the STC competitions is to identify, recognize, and encourage excellence in technical communications. The competition award levels are Distinguished Technical Communication, Excellence, and Merit.

The Society for Technical Communication has also honored two of its Atlanta Chapter members with the Distinguished Chapter Service Award. This is the Society’s highest award for individual contributions at the chapter level. Recipients are nominated by the chapter’s administrative committee and voted on by the STC Board of Directors. The Distinguished Chapter Service Award recipients are Jeff Haas of Haas Consulting, and Ken Rainey, Ph.D., of Southern Polytechnic State University. Haas’s plaque is inscribed: “For his dedicated long-term service to and leadership of the STC Atlanta Chapter.” Rainey’s plaque is inscribed: “In recognition of his leadership of the STC Atlanta Chapter and his continuing contribution to the field of technical communication.”
