“CUMBERLAND: Island in Time,” William VanDerKloot’s documentary film on the history of Georgia’s Cumberland Island, has won a CINE Golden Eagle. This award is a significant milestone in the life of a film. It means that this film will officially represent the US in international film festivals. It also makes the film eligible for entry in the annual Academy Awards.
This is the 10th Golden Eagle for work done by VanDerKloot and the VanDerKloot Film Studio. The award will be presented at a ceremony in Washington D.C.
The film premiered at the Woodruff Arts Center and is slated for video and broadcast release later this year. A testament to the natural wonders of the island, the film was shot over a five year period.
