Atlanta based band, Ultraphonic commissioned Director Mil Cannon and Producer Kevin Muir of ImageMil Studios to create a music video to accompany their debut single, “Knocked Down” from upcoming album, Impressions. The video examines loss and rejuvenation by interweaving performance footage with a tale of a young widow and her teenage step daughter. Cannon handled principal photography with DP Marc Dobiecki. Gaffer, Joe Clayton of Day One Production Services brought his lighting experience and supplied grip and dolly equipment.
Playing the widow, Natalia Sokalova met the band through a chance encounter several weeks prior to the shoot. A Russian born, L.A. based model, she was featured as a Playboy Playmate in April 1999 and has appeared in several film and video projects. Rachel Holmes, a local actress played the daughter. Friends and family of the band played mourners for a funeral scene and the band’s Manager, Bryan Holmes appeared in a cameo as the presiding minister. Shooting locations included such Atlanta hot spots as Club Kaya, the Majestic Diner, the Alpharetta residence of Melissa Hooker, and Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fairview, Georgia.
Near press time, Ultraphonic came in as the grand prize winner at the GarageBand.com music contest, an online battle of the bands, putting a $250,00.00 recording contract under their belt.
