Virgin Records recently approached iXL, Inc. for some help. The assignment: to launch a new rock band called A Perfect Circle and to link them to the internet savvy market that comprise the band’s following. Prior to the band’s first release, label execs approached iXL LIVE in LA about producing a web based event in conjunction with the band’s concert appearance in Atlanta with fellow rockers, Nine Inch Nails. The concept was translated to the screen in 10 days. Executive Producers, Jeff Gray and Fay Greene created a series of events incorporated by an interactive chat and a one hour webcast shot on location at iXL Film & Video’s studios in Atlanta. The interactive webcast includes the band’s first music video directed by music video/motion picture director, David Fincher (“Alien 3,” “Seven,” “The Game,” and “Fight Club”). Nearly 1,300 logged on to see the band and their song debuted at #4 on the Billboard charts.

iXL employees participated in the company’s “Global Volunteer Day” held at Avondale Elementary School. A celebration of their first year as a public company, the day was devoted to community service. Over 500 participated in the day’s events on June 3 which included face painting, relay games, computer lessons, and craft projects. Employees showed off their talents in different disciplines like clowning, magic, and juggling. Over 250 students from the area came for the fun. 80% of the children at Avondale qualify for subsidized lunches and 25% are from other countries.

iXL’s Film & Video division Creative Director Miguel Muelle has been elected to the Board of Governors of the national Broadcast Designer’s Association (BDA). His term will continue into 2002. Muelle is the only representative from Georgia appointed to the board.
