The Image of a Writer The Image of a Writer
Most readers check out the back page of a book before even opening to the first page. The image of a writer is often the reader’s greeting to the story. Atlanta photographer, Steve Williams is used to telling stories with photographs. Recently, Style Magazine approached him to photograph a writer they were featuring. Style didn’t know that Steve Williams and Fred Willard, author of “Down on Ponce” had known each other for years, in fact worked together years previously selling photography equipment. The picture, featuring Willard and the Majestic is distinctly Atlantan. Beyond Willard, who looks here like a throwback from that mystical Beatnik time, lies a hazily lighted diner. A realistic picture with a hint of something mystical, mysterious, not so clear? When Willard’s batteries ran out, he was forced to light the subject with unusual means – the headlights from his car. The resulting photograph will adorn the back of Willard’s 2nd published book, “Princess Naughty and Voodoo Cadillac” published by Marietta based, Longstreet Press and expected out by the end of September.
