The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center (The Contemporary) will present “Mix Tape” by Jeremy Helton of the multimedia ensemble, fascia. An opening reception will be held on November 3. In conjunction with the show, The Contemporary will hold a collaborative special event on November 17 at eleven50 on Crescent Ave. The party’s lineup includes British Musician/Artists, Scanner and Atlanta’s D.J. Gnosis. The evening will also feature screenings of music videos by James Herbert, experimental film shorts by Stan Brakhage, and a screening of an experimental short with a live musical score by fascia. Herbert has worked in Athens since the 1960s. A painter and filmmaker, he has been honored with film screenings at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City where this fall he will premiere his new film, “Jumbo Aqua.” The collaborative night is sponsored by The Contemporary in conjunction with IMAGE Film and Video Center and fascia. “Mix Tape” is set in a living-room environment, replete with velvety couch and TV monitor, a tableaux of experimental music videos reminiscent of the early MTV era.
