LAB 601 Gets Paranoid LAB 601 Gets Paranoid

LAB 601 recently conformed the feature film, “Paranoid” for the Alpha Film Group, a film production company. Filmmaker Ash Smith worked with Editor, David Ballard on the Symphony Universal using the system’s scene to scene color correction tools and real time DVE hardware. Ballard also used the facility’s Avid/DS to produce the film’s opening sequence, generate sophisticated title credits, and create a dream like effect to enhance the film’s surreal scenes.

Nothing is more fun than playing with a new toy. LAB 601 and Dzignlight Studios recently acquired the use of a Sony Hdcam 60I camera. Pres. David Ballard, excited with his new toy, said, “I’ve really been impressed with its color saturation and detail. It is not hard to see why High Def will become the new industry standard. We as a post-house are looking forward to offering our clients the services of our AVIDIDS HD and being part of the HDTV movement.”

Eric Deren of Dzignlight took advantage of his camera know how (and apparently his comfort with heights) to gather aerial HD skydiving footage at Skydive Atlanta, a local drop zone. The HD material will be incorporated into an in house documentary on freefly skydiving. “Watching our HD dallies kinda spoils you for standard def,” says Deren of the ‘def’ new system. Dallies are projected in the HD room located in the LAB 601/Dzignlight facilities, the first and only HD screening room in Atlanta.
