Esprit Reinvogorates a Dream Esprit Reinvogorates a Dream
The King Center was looking for a vision of Martin Luther King, Jr. to promote the King Holiday in January and found it at Esprit Creative, a division of USMotivation. The Center selected Donald Bermudez’s original depiction of the leader as the new image to represent the annual holiday. Bermudez, Esprit’s Creative Director, found inspiration in King’s own words. As he played tapes of King’s speeches, he designed the colorful images to be used on program covers for the annual festivities celebrating King. The images will also be available on the King Center’s website, allowing cities, states, organizations, and companies to promote the holiday.
Managing Director for the King’s Center, Tricia Harris, said, “Most young people today have only seen Dr. King’s image represented in black and white media. Rarely have they seen his image in this kind of color. This design is new and fresh, yet continues to convey the ‘breathable history’ of the man and his message.”
