The Catch The Catch
There have been many unforgettable catches in the history of football. Recalling one of the greatest, “The Catch” will premiere on ESPN Classic on January 21 at 8 p.m. as part of the network’s new series entitled, “Game of the Week.” Rob Mottola, Director of Operations for Post Modern Editorial, Inc., edited the 60 minute documentary on the monumental offensive drive that spiraled Joe Montana and the 49ers into the annals of professional football. The documentary retells the story of the 1981 NFC Championship Game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. The legendary catch by Dwight Clark in the back of the end zone would kick the Niners into a winning run at the Superbowl.
Mottola worked with Post Modern’s Matthew Gore, Editor, and Kestrel Communications’ Ned Simon, Executive Producer, and Marc Silverman, Producer. The entire post production process was completed at Post Modern. The offline edit took 18 days in the AVID III suite. The project was networked into the Symphony for color correction and final online. KinderWorks, Ltd. Audio Post, a sister company, rounded out the team effort. KinderWorks Owner, Jeff Kinder sweetened and did the final mix.
