The folks at Sawyer Riley Compton (SRC) have been pretty starry eyed lately. The team won a Citation of Excellence at the national ADDYs, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation. SRC was awarded for work on Eaton Corp oration’s, Dream Cruise. The charge was to promote a classic car show in Detroit. The result was a whopping 1.5 million person audience assembled along Detroit’s Woodward Avenue, a 16-mile stretch and popular “cruising” site in the ‘50s and ‘60s. SRC won a total of 13 Golds in the first tier of judging and took home Best of Show honors for the third consecutive year at the Atlanta Addys.
In addition to the ADDYs citation, the agency also placed as a finalist in the National 2001 ATHENA Awards sponsored by the Newspaper Assoc iation of America. An acronym for Award to Honor Excellence in News paper Advertising, the ATHENAs annually recognize those newspaper ads deemed the most creative. SRC was honored for an ad created for the Atlanta Ballet’s production of “Romeo & Juliet.” The simple black back ground features a sword and reads, “Two ballet dancers die. What better reason to attend?” Winners will hear their names in September at the Rain bow Room in New York. Chairman of this year’s panel is Mike Hughes of The Martin Agency out of Richmond, Virginia.
The ad created by Bart Cleveland, Kevin Thoem, and Ari Weiss and produced by Stephen Mitchell stands among strong contenders in the national ad community including Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Inc. of Boston, GMO Hill Holl iday of San Francisco, McKinney & Silver out of Raleigh, and Bozell New York.
SRC recently hired Christina Ruiz as an Assistant Media Planner assigned to The Ritz-Carlton, James Hardie Build ing Products, Sphinx area rugs, and The Dow Chemical Company accounts.
