Griffin Wins Audie Griffin Wins Audie

Charlton Griffin has been in the Atlanta ad community for a long time, but the culminating moment of his life, he believes, occurred this year. After 25 years. Griffin was honored with an Audie Award for his sonorous voice. The awards are presented annually by the Audio Publisher’s Association. Last year’s winner was famed John Cleese and past winners have included the likes of Orson Welles, Julie Christie, Michael York, Sharon Stone, and Burt Reynolds. Takers this year at the Grand Ballroom of Chicago’s Art Institute were Actors Sidney Poitier, Derek Jacobi, and Ruby Dee. Griffin was in good company.

Griffin has agents in Chicago and New York and has applied his voice to commercials for Washington Apples, Ford, Chevron Chemicals, Food Lion, The U.S. Marine Corps, and the Georgia Lottery. He is represented by Arlene Wilson and Atlanta Models and Talent.

In 1998, he opened Audio Connoisseur and began recording literature on his own label, acting as Sound Engineer and Director. Griffin’s winning work was a recording of work by Somerset Maugham.
