One of the words on Crawford’s tableaus is Atlanta, that is, attracting work to Atlanta, work that could go to the post houses of Los Angeles. And part of that attraction, Crawford says, is Dave Pickett. An Atlanta native, the Col or ist worked and trained under some of the biggest names in the biz in Santa Monica. Pickett operates the only HD Spirit DataCine in the Southeast.
Before joining Crawford in 1999, Pickett worked in Los Angeles at shops including Digital Magic, Riot, Pacific Ocean Post, and Company 3. His recent projects include: a “Priceless” spot for MasterCard, an Arby’s shot in conjunction with Fletcher Martin Ewing, the opening of the 2001 Wimbledon program for TripleHorse Entertainment, and the Headline News image campaign soon to be shown worldwide. The latter included transfer and color correction work completed at Crawford as part of the news program’s intent to update its image. Using 35mm and Turner’s motion control stage to composit images like clocks and cityscapes, the program wanted to reflect the ‘every-city’ versus reflecting Atlanta or any one city specifically. Turner Studios handled editing on the spots set to air as intro and bumpers on the program.
