Bates Travel & Tourism has added to its employee and client rosters. Joining the Atlanta division of Bates World wide/141 Communicator is Barbara Weiner, who takes the position of VP of Public Relations. She brings over 15 years of experience to the agency. Previously, Weiner worked for Atlanta based US Franchise Systems, Inc. as VP of Corporate Communications. Weiner began her career in the press office of former U.S. Senator, Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ) and moved to New York to be come Director of PR for the USS Intrepid, the WWII aircraft carrier turned museum. Weiner also served as VP of Diana Orban Associates, managing the Cruise Lines International Association account.

Earlier this year, Gary Gilpin was promoted to President of the Atlanta division. Before coming to Bates in 1995, Gilpin worked as both a Copy writer and a Broadcast Producer. He has worked with the Westin, Hyatt, Wet ‘n Wild water theme parks, Pepsi-Cola Bottlers, and various resort properties in Florida and the Caribbean.

The agency has been awarded business from Big Canoe, a golf community in North Georgia; Orlando based Island One/Ron Jon Resorts; and Travelon, an internet based adventure travel intermediary.
