The Atlanta Ad Club kicks off its 2001-2002 year with a new leader and a bang. Jim Osterman, Pres. of Oster man, etc., replaces past Pres ident Suzanne Harkness. Big news for this year - the club has been awarded the Amer ican Advertising Fed eration’s (AAF) 7th District Conf erence. The conf erence, to be held in April, in cludes chapters from Georgia, Miss iss ippi, Tennessee, Louisiana and Alabama, as well as a student comp etition from 13 college chapters. The student component began locally in 1967 and was adopted nationally by the AAF. Atlanta member, Jack Bolton, who was integral to the addition of the student component, will serve as a judge in this year’s competition.

The competition will begin with regional judging for the ADDY Award competition, which includes gold ADDY winners from the 28 clubs in the 7th district. Winners here will go on to compete at the national level.

The Ad Club is currently calling for nominations for the Silver Medal Award. The medal honors an individual who has made outstanding contributions to Atlanta’s advertising arena and who has been active in furthering industry standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.
